Great care was taken during the renovation of the Wichita Carnegie Library building to maintain the integrity of the Beaux-Arts inspired exterior. An interesting integration of sculpture and architecture can be seen in details like the stone lion heads that sit atop the grand arched entrance and on the north and south sides of the structure. A curved stairway welcomes visitors into the raised first story. Decorative consoles and bold, cornices sit below the striking rooftop capped by a square dome. The overall symmetry of the building creates a pleasing viewing experience that hints at the grand spaces of the interior.
